Bacteria levels keep beaches closed in HRM

Municipal staff are advising residents that two beaches will remain closed until further notice due to high bacteria levels detected.
Kinsmen Beach in Lower Sackville and Government Wharf Beach in Musquodoboit Harbour will remain closed until water tests indicate bacteria levels have reduced.
Beginning today, other municipal beaches and outdoor pools in the HRM have opened to the public.
High bacteria levels can be caused by a number of factors, including dogs, birds and other wildlife, along with higher temperatures.
