A mannequin used in the search for Dylan Ehler has produced useful information, according to Truro Police.
The 3-year-old went missing at around 1:20 p.m. last Wednesday from his grandmother's yard in the area of Queen and Elizabeth streets.
That night, firefighters found one of the boy's rubber boots in Lepper Brook close to Queen Street, and the second in the brook near where it spills into the Salmon River.
Yesterday officials attached radio frequency equipment to the device, which is the approximate height and weight of the boy, and launched it into Lepper Brook, hoping that would identify new search areas for trained professionals.
A helicopter monitored it from above and reporting stations were set up along the Salmon River to track the signal.
“The weather and water conditions were not exactly as they were on May 6, 2020, when Dylan Ehler, went missing,” said police in a news release.
“This trial was not meant to be an exact science; however, it is believed that the exercise did produce some useful information that the team will be evaluating.”
Truro police say, as a result of the new data, a dive team will be heading back in the water with a side sonar scanning device to inspect certain areas.
Anyone with information that will lead to the recovery of Dylan is asked to call Truro Police at 902-895-5351.
