Charges after argument in Dartmouth, axe and flashlight involved

Two men have been charged with assault with a weapon after an incident involving an axe over the weekend in Dartmouth.

Halifax Regional Police were called to a disturbance in the hall of an apartment building on Primrose Street around 10:15 p.m. Saturday night when they found two men and a woman in the middle of a physical altercation.

Both men are 45 years old and were arrested at the scene for weapons offences – one man used an axe during the altercation, the other a large flashlight.

Police confirmed yesterday the three adults are known to each other and a heated argument in the hall turned violent resulting in all three sustaining minor injuries. 

One man is facing additional charges of assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. 

They are due in court at a later date.
