Two arrested in drug trafficking investigation (update)

Two people from Dartmouth have been arrested in a drug trafficking investigation throughout the Annapolis Valley launched by the Windsor District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit in September.

Mounties say officers tried to arrest a 44-year-old man as he returned to his vehicle at around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, which was parked in a lot off of Damascus Rd. in Bedford.

The suspect was able to run off but was soon taken into custody.

Police also arrested a 37-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, then searched a Dartmouth home and two vehicles.

RCMP say they seized a “significant quantity” of cocaine, crack cocaine, cash and a replica firearm.

Andrew Curt Wint has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
  • Production of a schedule 1 substance
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Obstructing a peace officer
  • Operation of a conveyance while prohibited

He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on December 23.

Sarah Michelle Barnett has been charged with the following:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution

She's been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on March 3.

RCMP say their investigation continues.
