Nova Scotians 55+ now eligible to book Pfizer or Moderna vaccine appointments

Nova Scotians between the ages of 55 and 59 can now book appointments to get the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
According to the province, there are 79,000 people in this age group, which is already eligible to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine.
“This is a large group and we're hoping with all three vaccines being offered, we'll be able to get more and more shots into arms,” stated Premier Iain Rankin.
Appointments can only be booked online or by calling 1-833-797-7772.
The province is encouraging anyone who is eligible to get vaccinated as soon as possible, however, at a Monday briefing, the province's chief medical officer of health said there are some circumstances where an appointment should be rescheduled.
“If you have been tested, are positive for COVID and are still considered an active case,” explained Dr. Robert Strang. “If you're feeling unwell and have symptoms, even mild symptoms, don't go to get your vaccine, but go schedule a test.”
“And if you've been directed to self-isolate by public health because you're a close contact or if you have been at one of the exposure sites that public health produces notifications on, then again you have to go get a test, rather than going to get a vaccine.”
Strang said Nova Scotia is in a “critical race” to get most of its population vaccinated as variants take hold.
