Two charged with attempted murder in stabbing

A man and a woman have been charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of a man in Dartmouth last week.

Halifax Regional Police were called to Roleika Drive at around 4:15 a.m. Thursday, where they found a 57-year-old man with stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital.

The suspects were gone by the time officers arrived, but investigators believe the victim knew his assaulters.

Detra Johnson, 43, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • Attempted murder
  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Robbery
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Breach of probation 

Garfield William Flint, 43, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • Attempted murder
  • Robbery
  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Breach of probation 

Police say the pair are also being charged with break and enter, property damage and breach of probation in relation to a break-in at a home on Ruben Court in Dartmouth.

And Johnson is facing two counts each of theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property and breach of probation in relation to two recent thefts from Kent stores in Dartmouth and Halifax.
