Nova Scotia Power to activate Emergency Operations Centre Friday morning

With another storm on the way, Nova Scotia Power will once again be activating its Emergency Operations Centre at 7 a.m. Friday.

It will provide a central place to coordinate planning for outage restoration and response.

A freezing rain warning and rainfall warning are in effect for the Halifax Regional Municipality. 

In a news release, Nova Scotia Power's storm lead, Sean Borden said this weather system is expected to impact the entire province.

“Weather forecasts are calling for a heavy amount of rain, freezing rain, snow and ice pellets beginning overnight Thursday and continuing all day Friday,” he said.

“We are positioning power line crews, forestry and other teams across the province, so we are ready to safely respond as quickly as possible for our customers.”

The utility said it's a good idea to prepare for a storm by having an emergency kit with flashlights, a battery-powered radio and fresh water.
