UPDATE: The special weather statement for Wednesday's snowfall has ended, but another special weather statement is in effect for Thursday

Special weather statement in effect for:

  •  Kings County, N.S. (011100)
  •  Lunenburg County, N.S. (011400)
  •    Hants County, N.S. (012500)
  •    Colchester County – Truro and south, N.S. (012600)
  •    Halifax Metro and Halifax County West, N.S. (012700)
  •    Halifax County – east of Porters Lake, N.S. (012800)

Brief but intense snowfall may cause a challenging commute.

Total snowfall: up to 10 cm.

Locations: Most of mainland Nova Scotia.

Time span: 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Remarks: A short period of heavy snow will move from west to east across mainland Nova scotia Wednesday morning during the rush hour. Snowfall rates could approach 5 cm per hour, resulting in very poor visibilities. Conditions will improve quickly as the snow moves east later Wednesday morning.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate.
