Two people walk away from violent crash in New Glasgow

Two people in Nova Scotia are counting their lucky stars after a violent car crash in what authorities have described as “kind of a miracle.”

According to New Glasgow Regional Police, drivers of a Chevrolet Trailblazer and a Hyundai Tucson collided at the intersection of Abercrombie Road and Elm Street in New Glasgow on Tuesday, around 2:30 p.m.

In a release, police say the Trailblazer, travelling eastbound on Elm Street, and a Hyundai Tucson was travelling southbound on Abercrombie Road.

Both the Trailblazer and Tucson sustained major damage, but the two sole occupants of both vehicles walked away without injury.

“One of the vehicles was flipped over,” says Constable Ken MacDonald with New Glasgow Police. “Both vehicles sustained major damage, and as a result, once emergency services got there, there were no major injuries reported by either driver.”

MacDonald says that particular intersection is busy since it links the downtown to the county area.

Abercrombie Road was closed for over an hour as the accident scene was cleaned up and vehicles were towed away.

New Glasgow Police say they continue to investigate what caused the collision.
