New Brunswick reports nine more deaths as new website for COVID-19 data launched

By Canadian Press

FREDERICTON — New Brunswick is reporting nine deaths from COVID-19 in the week that ended Saturday, bringing the total to 358 since the start of the pandemic.

Health officials say 12 more people were admitted to hospital for COVID-19 during the week from Sunday, March 27 through Saturday.

There were 78 people in hospital as a result of the virus, including nine in intensive care, but those numbers do not include patients admitted for another reason who later tested positive for COVID-19.

The information is contained in a new website that the Health Department says will be updated every Tuesday with data from the week ending the previous Saturday.

The website is a condensed version of the COVID-19 dashboard the province has been using.

Among the changes, the province is no longer providing the number of people on ventilators or the number of hospital staff off work due to COVID-19.
