Suspect facing firearms charges after weekend assault

A man is facing several charges in an assault over the weekend.

Halifax Regional Police were called to a home on Castle Hill Drive, off Kearney Lake Road, at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, where they say a man threatened and assaulted another man with a firearm.

Police say the pair knew each other before the incident.

Officers arrested a suspect and searched the residence. They say they seized five firearms, along with ammunition.

Phillip Andrew Levy, 54, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • Assault 
  • Uttering threats
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
  • Pointing a firearm 
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (five counts)
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized (five counts)
