Queen Mary 2 visiting Halifax Wednesday

By Meghan Groff

The Queen Mary 2 is in town today.

It's the Cunard flagship's first visit to Halifax Harbour following our cruise ship industry's two-year pandemic-related hiatus.

The luxury ocean liner arrived just before 8:30 a.m. and is expected to depart at 6 p.m.

The ship is 1,132 feet long, which according to the Port of Halifax is as long as 36 London double decker buses.

That makes her 147 feet longer than the Eiffel Tower is tall.

The ship also features the largest planetarium at sea.

This is the first of two visits for the Queen Mary 2. She's scheduled to be in town next on October 5.
