Rogers outage affects wireless, internet customers Canada-wide

By CityNews Staff

A major Rogers outage is affecting Canadians across the country, with many waking up Friday to find their wireless and internet services down.

It also appears to be affecting Interac/debit services, with many businesses only able to accept cash or credit as payment.

The cause of the issue is unknown at this time but the problem is confirmed to be nation-wide.

The outage is causing problems with emergency services in other parts of the country, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Nova Scotia's Emergency Management Office tells CityNews Halifax the province’s 911 system is working as usual, “however, Rogers users would be impacted by the outage affecting their network.”

Fido services also appear to be down.

The outage started around 5 a.m. Halifax time. A timeline for when services will be restored has not yet been provided.

Many people have taken to social media to vent their frustrations amid the outage.

Rogers is the parent company of CityNews.
