Driver charged with stunting on Highway 111

By Meghan Groff

A man Halifax Regional Police say was going almost twice the speed limit has been charged with stunting.

An officer spotted the vehicle going 159 km/h in an 80 km/h zone of Highway 111 near Burnside Drive just after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

A stunting charge is automatic for any vehicle going more than 50 km/h over the limit.

It comes with a $2,422.50 fine and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.

In addition, the 34-year-old has been suspended from driving for a week and the vehicle was impounded.

The man was also ticketed for passing on the right of a vehicle.

Anyone who spots a dangerous driver is asked to report it by calling 911.
