A man is facing charges after firearms were seized from a Hammonds Plains home.

RCMP were called to Sandwick Drive just before 1 a.m. Friday.

Police say a taxi driver went to the home and saw what appeared to be a man trying to conceal a firearm.

According to Mounties, both the man and a woman who was present asked the driver to leave.

“RCMP officers arrived at the scene and were attempting to make contact with the occupants inside the home, when a man and a woman exited the residence,” police said in a news release. “The 30-year-old Hammonds Plains man was arrested safely.”

Mounties searched the home and say they seized a rifle, a replica handgun, ammunition and a small quantity of what's believed to be cocaine.
