Nova Scotia RCMP say they have recovered the body of the missing boater who reportedly fell overboard in Digby County’s Eel Lake.
Mounties say a search and recovery effort began early Friday evening when police say a man went missing following a boat collision.
Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers learned that a 14-foot aluminum boat, which was under power and travelling at speed, struck a stationary 12-foot boat in a narrow part of the lake.
Police say both men in the 14-foot boat went into the water, with one of them being rescued by people in the other vessel.
The other man, a 62-year-old from the Halifax area, could not be found.
According to RCMP, neither of the men who went overboard were wearing a life jacket.
As a result, a team involving roughly 60 people looked for the missing boater throughout the weekend.
The search effort included rescue boats, ground search and rescue teams as well as helicopters searching the area by air.
On Sunday at around 7:30 p.m., divers found the missing man deceased.
Mounties say both boats involved in the collision have been seized, and the investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
