Progress reported on Little Harbour fire

The Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources and Renewables said Tuesday afternoon they are making progress on the fire burning near Little Harbour in Shelburne County. In an afternoon update, DNRR noted that the fire is now considered held and about 60 % contained.

Power had been cut off to several residences in the area impacted by the fire, but DNRR reported that they hoped the electricity would be restored around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

DNRR reported about 30 of their staff, 17 volunteer firefighters and one helicopter working on the fire that is listed at 56.6 hectares in size.
