By CityNews Halifax Staff

Halifax District RCMP has charged a man in relation to a sexual assault, involving a youth, that occurred in Lower Sackville.

On July 13, at approximately 7:15 p.m., Halifax District RCMP received a complaint of a sexual assault that occurred at a transit bus terminal on Walker Avenue in Lower Sackville.

RCMP officers learned that a youth at the bus terminal was allegedly groped by a man, who had made sexual comments, before fleeing on foot. A second man, who was present and known to the victim, attempted to follow the perpetrator and contacted 911.

RCMP officers, with the assistance from an RCMP police service dog team, tracked the 47-year-old Dartmouth man to a location nearby where he was safely arrested.

RCMP officers transported the man to the Lower Sackville RCMP detachment where he subsequently assaulted an officer while refusing to identify himself.

Shaun Kevin Kiley, 47, has been charged with Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Assaulting a Peace Officer, Mischief, and Failure to Comply with Probation Order (two counts).

Kiley was released by the Courts, on July 14, and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court in August.
