Halifax’s auditor general criticizes city over cybersecurity issues

By CityNews Halifax Staff

Halifax’s auditor general is taking the city to task over cybersecurity issues.

A report released on Wednesday by Evangeline Colman-Sadd is finding Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) has not provided appropriate oversight of its cybersecurity risks.

The AG says cybersecurity initiatives haven’t been properly planned, and risks identified in both internal and external reviews haven’t been effectively assessed.

Colman-Sadd has made 16 recommendations and says HRM management has agreed to implement all of them.

She adds given the sensitive nature of cybersecurity, officials have been provided with a confidential report that has additional information and recommendations.
