Thousands still without power in Nova Scotia following post-tropical storm Lee

Thousands of people in Nova Scotia were still without power Monday night after post-tropical storm Lee blew through the Maritimes over the weekend.

Most of the remaining outages were on Nova Scotia’s South Shore.

Nova Scotia Power says 280,000 people lost power because of the storm, representing more than a quarter of the province’s population.

The utility says it has about 1,000 people in the field working to restore power after the storm knocked down trees and lines.

In New Brunswick, meanwhile, NB Power said it expected to have power restored to all customers by the end of Thursday.

It says roughly 90,000 people in the province were affected by outages throughout the weekend.
