Man charged after assault with machete in Dartmouth

Halifax Regional Police (HRP) have charged a man after an alleged assault with a machete.

On Nov. 13 at roughly 2:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault in progress at the Halifax Transit bridge terminal at 24 Nantucket Drive in Dartmouth.

According to HRP, two men were arguing on a Halifax Transit bus and when they exited, one the men tried to assault the other with a machete.

No injuries were reported during the altercation.

The suspect, Jeremy Allan Durno, 44, was arrested and officers seized the weapon.

Durno is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 14 to face charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, and possession of a weapon contrary to a court order.
