Power outages mount as wind storm blows through Nova Scotia

It’s another day of high wind and lots of rain for many in Nova Scotia.
Several weather warnings remain in place, including wind and rain warnings. Winds are expected to reach 100 km/h in some areas, expected to diminish later this morning.
As of 4:00 a.m. Tuesday, the utility was reporting around 69,000 customers without power. Large outages were being reported in the Middle Musquodoboit .
“We’ll probably see some improvement in [the wind] maybe around 2 or 3 a.m.,” explained Environment Canada meteorologist Ian Hubbard. “They’ll still be strong but not nearly the same strength and gusts.”
Nova Scotia Power opened its emergency operations centre in anticipation of power outages.
Halifax Stanfield said many flights were delayed or cancelled on account of the storm. The Confederation Bridge, connecting PEI to the mainland, was closed late Monday due to the high winds.
