1 dead, 1 injured in fatal collision on Highway 104

A 42-year old woman from New Glasgow is dead after being involved in a fatal crash in a town north of Halifax.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said emergency crews responded to reports of a crash on Highway 104 in New Glasgow at around 5:40 p.m. on Friday.

Police found that a Honda CRV hit a deer while heading eastbound on the highway and then was hit from behind by a transport truck.

Emergency crews brought the driver of the car, a 42-year-old woman from New Glasgow, to hospital by ambulance.

She was then flown by LifeFlight to Halifax, where she was later pronounced dead from her injuries.

The driver of the transport truck, a 61-year-old New Brunswick man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist was on scene and the investigation continues.
