Man faces multiple fraud related charges in Halifax

A man faces multiple fraud related charges for purchases he made in the region this month.

Halifax Regional Police say between Feb. 15 and Feb. 20, the suspect made several purchases of construction materials from suppliers in HRM.

He was eventually arrested by officers when he went to pick up the materials.

Police say on Feb. 22, officers searched a self-storage facility in Halifax where they believed the materials were being stored and found three men laoding them into a transport truck.

Officers arrested two of the men without incident while the third man, who was previously arrested the day before, was arrested after a brief foot chase.

According to HRP, the seized property is valued at nearly $200,000.

Two of the men were released without charges. The third man, Kwaku George Ankama, 28, was scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court last week to face charges of

  • Identity fraud to avoid arrest (x3)
  • Identity theft
  • Fraud over $5,000 (x8)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (x9)
  • Resist arrest
