Workers at Autoport on strike

Unionized workers at the Autoport facility on the Halifax Harbour are on strike.

In a post to social media on Monday night, Unifor said Local 100 and Autoport failed to reach an agreement and workers to commence strike action at midnight.

In a release to the media on Friday, Unifor said that they were committed to negotiating a fair and equitable deal that addresses challenging economic times and that conciliated talks were scheduled for yesterday.

Unifor Local 100 represents 239 employees at the Autoport vehicle processing and transshipment hub in Eastern Passage. Operating under CN Rail, Autoport is one of North America’s most extensive facilities, processing and transshipping nearly 185,000 vehicles annually.
