By CityNews Halifax Staff

The Halifax Mooseheads are back in the win column after picking up a dominant 7-1 win against the Saint John Sea Dogs on Saturday.

The Mooseheads drew first blood as Markus Vidicek found the back of Saint John’s net near the midway point of the opening frame.

Tyler Peddle answered back minutes later to tie things up at 1-1 but seconds later Luke McPhee netted his first goal as a member of the Herd to restore Halifax’s lead.

Jack Martin eventually put the Herd up by two late in the second period.

Mathieu Cataford extended the Herd’s lead very quickly into the third period, making it 4-1 Halifax.

Jan Sprynar then scored two goals in 21 seconds to make it a five goal lead for the Mooseheads.

Logan Crosby added one more to make it a 7-1 final in Halifax’s favour.

The Mooseheads are back in the Scotiabank Centre on March 8 when they welcome the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
