There is still no resolution in the ongoing contract talks between the Nova Scotia Community College and the union representing its faculty and staff.
Bargaining teams from the college and the Atlantic Academic Union spent yesterday with a conciliator in an effort to reach a new contract.
In an post last night last night, NSCC said that union members left the session around 9 o’clock after sending the college their latest counteroffer.
The school said the college has responded to the union’s counteroffer and is awaiting a response.
Earlier this week, union president Barbara Gillis said her members had rejected the college’s offer of a 7 to 8 percent increase in salary. She said the offer was behind what other post-secondary institutions have received and was not acceptable to the members, who are over 14 percent behind inflation.
The union has said if no deal is reached, it will launch strike action, likely on Monday.
