Halifax West dismisses early after threatening message found in bathroom

Halifax West High School dismissed students early on Monday as police investigated a threat made against the school.

Halifax Regional Centre for Education spokesperson Lindsey Bunin said the decision was made out of an abundance of caution after a “potential threat” was found at the Clayton Park school.

“A message was written in a bathroom stall,” Bunin said. “School leaders immediately contacted police, who are now on site and investigating.”

Halifax Regional Police said officers were called to Halifax West just before 11:00 a.m. and were checking the school for any safety concerns.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
