Gordon Lightfoot’s friends reunite for a show in Halifax

By CityNews Halifax Staff

With a little help from his friends, the late Gordon Lightfoot’s music will be celebrated in Halifax this fall.

The original band that toured with the Canadian legend for decades will perform six shows in Atlantic Canada, showcasing Lightfoot’s songs, along with some stories and history.

Among those stops will be Casino Nova Scotia on October 2.

Tickets go on sale in all markets this Friday, May 3 at 10 a.m.

The band is comprised of Lightfoot’s original band mates, including Rick Haynes on bass, Barry Keane on drums and percussion, Michael Heffernan on keyboards, Carter Lancaster on lead guitars, and new lead singer, Andy Mauck, who is a long-time friend and vocalist of the Sundown singer-songwriter.

According to a release, the band’s mission is to “ensure that the soul-stirring melodies of Gordon Lightfoot will continue to resonate through their spirited performances.”
