By CityNews Halifax Staff

Halifax Regional Police have charged two youths in incidents where threats were made towards schools across the HRM.

Since April 1, police say they have received 25 separate reports of messages left at schools throughout the region mentioning explosive devices in the buildings.

HRP says officers searched the schools with school officials’ assistance but could not locate any threats to school safety.

On May 9, investigators arrested and charged a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old in relation to the threats made at J.L. Ilsley High School on May 7.

Both are scheduled to appear in youth court to face charges of mischief and uttering threats.

The investigation is still ongoing, and further charges are expected. Anyone with information is urged to contact Halifax Regional Police or Crimestoppers.
