Temperatures rising in Nova Scotia, near record-breaking

Nova Scotia is getting some summer-like heat in May.

Temperatures are forecast to soar far above seasonal levels on Wednesday, with some areas expecting temperatures in the high 20 C.

“This is the core summer heat that we typically deal with around the region, but it’s coming on May 22,said CityNews Meteorologist Carl Lam

Seasonal temperatures for this time of year are around 16 C, and today’s high is 28 C.

“The only way you will cool down is if you are right at the water.  With an on-shore breeze, temperatures should be around 14 degrees,” Lam said.

Wednesday’s temperatures will be hot, but not record-breaking.  The record high for May 22 is 32 C, set back in 1992.

A reminder as well to keep an eye on the provincial BurnSafe map. Officials say things can dry out quickly with several days of sun and warmth in the forecast.
