Andy Fillmore to run for Halifax Regional Municipality mayor

The worst-kept secret in Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) has been made public.

Halifax Member of Parliament Andy Fillmore announced Thursday morning in Dartmouth that he will run for mayor in the upcoming municipal election.

Fillmore announced last month that he would resign from his post as a MP before the House of Commons resumes sitting in the fall.

Fillmore joins Waye Mason, Pam Lovelace, Clay Thomas Bowser, Ryan Dodge, Nolan Greenough, Zoran Jokic and Blake Roache on the list of official candidates to replace outgoing Mayor Mike Savage.

Residents in HRM will elect a new Mayor and council on October 19.
