MacKay Bridge to shut down to traffic this weekend

By CityNews Halifax Staff

The MacKay Bridge will be closed to traffic this weekend for planned maintenance and inspection.

The shutdown is to make up for one of the earlier weekends that had to be postponed due to rain.

According to Halifax Harbour Bridges, the cross harbour span will close to vehicles at 7 p.m. Friday until Monday, July 15 at 5:30 a.m.

Traffic delays are expected so HHB asks motorists to plan accordingly or use alternate routes.

HHB also warns the MacDonald Bridge will see higher traffic volumes than normal because of the MacKay closure.
