Two fatal motorcycles crashes on one day in Lunenburg County

Lunenburg District RCMP are investigating two separate fatal motorcycle crashes that took place on Sunday.

The first took place Sunday afternoon as emergency crews responded to a crash on Highway 332 in First South, N.S. where a Harley-Davidson trike motorcycle had been travelling west when it left the road and entered the ditch.

Mounties said both the driver and the passenger were ejected from the vehicle.

The passenger, a 78-year-old woman from Lunenburg, was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver, a 76-year-old Lunenburg man, was transported by paramedics to the South Shore Regional Hospital and later flown by LifeFlight to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax.

Mounties did not mention to extent of his injuries.

The second crash took place Sunday night in Deans Corner, N.S. where emergency crews responded to Highway 3 and discovered that a Kawasaki motorcycle was travelling south when it left the road.

Police said the driver and sole occupant of the motorcycle, a 23-year-old Lunenburg man, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP said a collision reconstructionist attended each scene and the investigations into the crashes are ongoing.
