Birch Cove Beach under water quality advisory

The city is issuing another recreational water quality advisory for a beach in HRM.

Birch Cove Beach in Dartmouth is under an advisory until further notice due to poor water quality as a result of recent heavy rainfall.

Recent rainfall has led to swimmers reporting itch-like symptoms after swimming at this beach. The municipality is advising people to avoid swimming at the beach until the advisory is lifted.

The city said staff will continue testing the water and will lift the advisory when bacteria levels are once again within Health Canada guidelines.
