First American-born player unveiled as 36th captain of Mooseheads

With the Halifax Mooseheads regular season set to open later this week, the team announced veteran defenceman Brady Schultz as the 36th captain in franchise history.

Schultz, a native of Connecticut, is entering his fourth season with Halifax. He becomes the first American-born player to wear the “C” for the Mooseheads.

Joining him on the leadership team are Braeden MacPhee and Owen Phillips, who will serve as full-time alternate captains.

Jack Martin and Liam Kilfoil will split duties as alternates for home and away games.

The regular season kicks off on Friday night in Charlottetown at 7 p.m., the first of five games on the road to open the season for Halifax.
