Driver caught going 65 km/h over the speed limit on Hwy. 102

Halifax Regional Police (HRP) have charged a man with stunting after an officer clocked a driver going 65 km/h over the speed limit on Tuesday.

HRP says the driver was caught driving 165 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on Highway 102 near Hammonds Plains around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The 33-year-old man was ticketed for stunting, an automatic charge when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit.

The fine is nearly $2,500, six points are assigned to the driver’s record and they are suspended for seven days.

“The driver was also issued a summary offence ticket for failing to display driver’s license on demand of peace officer,” police said in a media release.

Police say if you see someone driving dangerously, you should call 911.
