Halifax West High School hold and secure lifted after weapons call

Halifax Regional Police says a man is facing charges in relation to an incident that saw a Clayton Park high school go into a hold and secure on Friday morning.

Police say just before 10 a.m., officers were called to a weapons complaint in the parking lot at Halifax West high school.

HRP says an 18-year-old man was taken into custody and a bag belonging to the suspect was found nearby with a sensory irritant and a machete inside.

No injuries were reported and police say the man never entered the school.

He’s been released from custody with a court appearance set for December.
