Thunderbirds’ Bell suspended seven games after altercation with fans

A Halifax Thunderbirds player has been handed a suspension after getting into a physical altercation with fans during a game in Denver, Colo. last month.

Video posted to social media of the incident involving Tyson Bell during the game on Dec. 21 surfaced in the days following the match, and the Thunderbirds suspended Bell while waiting for a discipline decision from the National Lacrosse League (NLL).

On Tuesday, the NLL announced Bell would serve a seven-game suspension for his actions.

“The events that arose immediately following the game are inexcusable and the League condemns the physical altercation that occurred,” the NLL wrote in a statement posted to social media. “Our players are expected to always demonstrate professionalism and self-discipline, regardless of whether extenuating circumstances exist.”

Bell has also been cited for assault by authorities in Denver.
