Mooseheads end winless streak on the road in Saint John

The Mooseheads travelled to TD Station to take on the Sea Dogs and won 5-2 in the second game of a weekend home-and-home series.

Liam Kilfoil put the Herd on top 6 minutes into the game after Caylen Blake found Kilfoil alone in front of the Saint John net before Kilfoil sent a backhand shot past the pad of Justin Robinson. Shawn Carrier added another for the Mooseheads with his career-high 9th goal of the season going top-shelf past Robinson to give the Herd a 2-0 lead heading into the second period.

The Mooseheads widened their lead on the powerplay in the second period as Quinn Kennedy sent a backhand shot into the pads of Robinson before burying his own rebound. Patrik McNab found the back of the Saint John goal 13:26 into the second period to push the lead further from the Sea Dogs reach.

The Sea Dogs scored their first goal moments later as William Yared put Saint John on the board.

Kilfoil sent a puck into an empty Sea Dogs net to secure the Mooseheads’ victory. This ended the team’s seven-game losing streak and gave Halifax its first win of 2025.

With the win, the Herd improved to 12-21-6, while the Sea Dogs fell to 17-22-0.

Halifax will be back in action as they travel up to Rimouski to face off against Lou Levesque, Jack Martin and the Océanic on Wednesday, Jan 15th, at 8 p.m. You can tune in here on 95.7 NewsRadio.
