Lower Sackville house fire that killed 6-year-old not suspicious: RCMP

Police say a house fire that claimed the life of a child in Lower Sackville is not believed to be suspicious.

On Saturday at roughly 3:10 a.m., emergency crews responded to a house fire on Riverside Drive.

At this time, investigators can say that the fire is not believed to be suspicious but the investigation is ongoing.

GoFundMe page has been set up for a Lower Sackville family who were rescued from a burning duplex on Riverside Drive early Saturday morning.

RCMP reported that a 37-year-old woman and a 2-year-old managed to escape the flames, a 40-year-old man was rescued by a neighbour, and three children, ages 5, 6, and 9, were rescued by firefighters.

The 6-year-old girl, a relative who was visiting the family, later died in the hospital; the other children continue to receive medical care while the 40-year-old is said to be in stable condition.
