Police say a house fire that claimed the life of a child in Lower Sackville is not believed to be suspicious.
On Saturday at roughly 3:10 a.m., emergency crews responded to a house fire on Riverside Drive.
At this time, investigators can say that the fire is not believed to be suspicious but the investigation is ongoing.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for a Lower Sackville family who were rescued from a burning duplex on Riverside Drive early Saturday morning.
RCMP reported that a 37-year-old woman and a 2-year-old managed to escape the flames, a 40-year-old man was rescued by a neighbour, and three children, ages 5, 6, and 9, were rescued by firefighters.
The 6-year-old girl, a relative who was visiting the family, later died in the hospital; the other children continue to receive medical care while the 40-year-old is said to be in stable condition.
