The Province’s Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) launched an investigation after a man was hit by a vehicle driven by an off-duty member of Halifax Regional Police.
According to SiRT, the man was standing beside his truck on Myra Road early Friday afternoon when he was hit. He was airlifted from the scene to hospital with what investigators have described as serious injuries.
In a statement, SiRT said they assumed responsibility for the investigation because of the seriousness of the injuries.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have been travelling on Myra Road between 12:40 p.m. and 12:55 p.m. on Friday and who could have dash camera footage or witnessed the collision to contact SiRT.
It is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault, intimate partner violence or other issues of public interest that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer in Nova Scotia.
