One man dead following collision in Pleasant River

Queens District RCMP has opened an investigation following a crash in pleasant river that left one man dead.

RCMP, fire services and EHS responded to a report of a vehicle crash on Highway 208 near the 4200 block Friday shortly before 1:30 p.m. Upon arrival, responding officers learned that a Mercedes Sprinter van was travelling on the highway when it left the roadway before coming to a rest in the ditch.

The driver an lone occupant, identified as a 44-year-old man from Halifax, was pronounced dead at the scene, officers report.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

The highway was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
