Fairview area shooting victim identified

The Halifax Regional Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Fairview on Thursday as 38-year-old, Uriah Lemar Black.

At roughly 6:20 a.m., police responded to Mcfatridge Road where officers found Black on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was then transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy conducted by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service confirmed the manner of his death to be a homicide.

Officials do not believe this was a random event and are asking anyone who may have video from the area to contact HRP or Crime Stoppers.
