Streets reopened after crews respond to gas leak in Halifax

The Halifax Regional Municipality says a gas leak in Halifax’s west end has now been resolved.
Halifax Fire crews were called to the area of Windsor Street and Bayers Road around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday to reports of a gas leak.
Eastward Energy posted to social media that a third-party had damaged one of its lines in the area. The company said the leak had been “squeezed off” just after 11:30 a.m.
Regional police say as of 12:30 p.m. the area of Bayers Road from Windsor Street to Connolly Street as well as Oxford Street from Liverpool Street to Edgewood Avenue is has reopened to traffic.
The municipality also says any residents who had been evacuated are allowed to return to their homes.
