Huskies dominate Mooseheads, claim Game 1 of second-round playoffs

The Halifax Mooseheads started off the second round of the playoffs with a 4-1 loss against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies Friday evening.
Rouyn-Noranda took advantage of two errors in the Mooseheads’ defensive end to take a 2-1 lead after the first period. Samuel Beauchemin opened the scoring for the Huskies, taking a long pass up the middle of the ice and beating Jacob Steinman to take the lead just 7 minutes into the game.
Benjamin Brunelle scored the game-winning goal for the Huskies, just seven minutes later. Quinn Kennedy responded for the Herd, sniping home the lone Mooseheads goal of the night, receiving a pass from Braeden MacPhee before cutting the Rouyn-Noranda lead to one heading into the first intermission.

The Huskies continued to dominate in the second period adding two more goals to take a three goal lead heading into the final period of the game. Alexis Lemire restored the Huskies two goal lead with the insurance marker less than two minutes into the second period. Bill Zonnon added another in the second period as the Huskies claimed game one of the second round.
Road to playoffs
With the loss, the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies have a 1-0 series lead over the Halifax Mooseheads in the second-round of the playoffs.
The Huskies dominated the three stars of the game. Defenseman Higgins earned first star for Rouyn-Noranda with two assists. Benjamin Brunelle was awarded second star with the game-winning goal and third star went to Samuel Rousseau.
