No bomb found after threats against Saint Mary’s, Dalhousie

There was no evidence of a bomb after threats were reportedly made against multiple Halifax universities on Tuesday, according to regional police.

At 12:30 p.m., police asked people to avoid the area of Saint Mary’s University after the school reported a bomb threat.

In an update at 3:45 p.m., police said no bomb was found.

“Police assisted with the evacuation of campus, including the University’s residences. Nearby streets were closed, and a sweep of the school was conducted by officers and the K9 Unit. No bomb or other suspicious materials were located during the search,” officials said in a media release.

The area surrounding the university has since reopened to the public.

Regional police said in addition to the threat at Saint Mary’s, a similar threat was reported by Dalhousie University.

The investigation into those threats is ongoing, police said.
