A man from Nine Mile River is facing several charges after fleeing from police in Lunenburg County.
RCMP say an officer spotted a grey Honda Civic with no licence plate on Highway 103 near Chester Basin on May 29 around 11:50 a.m.
When the officer activated their lights and sirens, the driver sped off. Police say they did not pursue the vehicle in the interest of public safety.
The car was later reported heading in the wrong direction on Highway 103 near Exit 9. RCMP officers and the Department of Natural Resources air services were brought in to help with the search.
The vehicle was found parked near Oakland Road in Oakland around 1:15 p.m., and that’s where police arrested the driver, 23-year-old Justin Oakley, and a youth passenger. No injuries were reported.
Oakley is charged with flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation in connection with that incident.
He is also charged with two additional counts of flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation, and assault with a weapon in relation to a May 27 incident in Barrington Passage. In that case, RCMP say a similar vehicle backed toward an officer during a traffic stop before fleeing.
Oakley appeared in Bridgewater provincial court on May 30 and was released on conditions. He is scheduled to return to court on July 9 at 9:30 a.m.
