As the province gets set to replace its fleet of helicopters, the government is inviting Nova Scotians to help name them.
It is inviting residents to submit their suggestions. In a release, Natural Resources Minister Tory Rushton said the department encourages names that are associated with Nova Scotia in some way so that the helicopters reflect pride in the province.
“Nova Scotians are proud of the work we do with our helicopters to fight wildfires and support other important tasks,” said Rushton. “Since we’re replacing the fleet, we’re inviting Nova Scotians to help name the new aircraft. We encourage names that are associated with Nova Scotia in some way so that our helicopters reflect our pride in our province.”
The province says 10 names will be chosen as finalists, and Nova Scotians can then vote for their four favourites on the Nova Scotia government Facebook page.
Those interested in submitting a suggestion can do so on the province’s website.
The deadline is June 27.
The current fleet of helicopters was purchased in 2016, with a new fleet set to be delivered this year and next.
