An increasing number of couples are including their furry friends in their wedding ceremonies; sometimes sitting at the alter as the best man, or running down the aisle with the rings. But Good Robot Brewing is taking the dog wedding to new heights.
On Sept. 20, the award-winning Halifax brewery is hosting ‘My Big Fat Dog Wedding’, a tail-wagging celebration to tie the knot between two lucky pups.
Good Robot Brewing describes itself as the “curators of quirky beer experiences for our communities” and this event does not seek to disappoint.
“Before Covid, Good Robot was known for bizarre events that made people laugh and brought the community together, everything from Crop Top Tolerance Day to puppet shows with Jim Henson’s former crew,” Joshua Counsil, Co-Founder of Good Robot Brewing, said in a press release. “Covid put a stop to that, but now we’re back and dumber than ever. Life is scary and mundane enough. Let’s enjoy some beers, marry some dogs, and get on with it.”

Haligonians can enter an online contest to have their pooches chosen to stand at the alter. The contest is open until Sept. 5 after which the public will choose the lucky pair.
“The winning duo will be wed at the event, fetching prizes and eternal puppy love bragging rights,” a press release states.
The wedding will be followed by a reception featuring local vendors, dog-friendly treats, games and beer.
Tickets are $10, half of which will be donated to Fly With Me Animal Rescue.
